Programs

A Kevah group is a group of 8-14 friends who convene regularly to study Jewish texts in a comfortable setting. Each group is convened by a group organizer who invites participants based around a specific affinity principle. Kevah groups delve into core questions of the nature of reality, ethics, and human nature. Fortunately, Judaism offers several thousand years of wisdom on these topics, so we have lots of resources. To join our organization, all you have to do is head to your living room, or your friend’s living room, open your beverage of choice, and let your mind explore new ideas and new ways of thinking. Kevah helps with the rest.

Kevah currently supports groups for:

  • Berkeley moms with young kids
  • Peninsula Russian young adults
  • Oakland hipsters
  • San Francisco Jewish artists
  • Members of a synagogue interested in studying the same topic (i.e. Jewish parenting)
  • San Mateo couples
  • Denver empty nesters
  • Boulder young adults interested in spirituality

Groups meet one to four times each month in someone’s home, office or local synagogue or JCC.  Kevah provides a dynamic educator, curricular resources and administrative support to create.  Kevah groups are open to people of all backgrounds and Jewish denominations.

Participants select a theme or book of interest. Some popular topics include:

  • Torah Parenting
  • Relationships
  • Big Questions (Jewish perspectives on sexuality, race, art, food, Zionism, etc.)
  • Great Books (i.e. Bible, Prophets, Judges, Talmud, Medieval Codes, Hasidic masters)
